A bright red, easy-to-make holiday margarita perfect for shaking individually or preparing as a large batch for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau)
  • 1 1/2 ounces cranberry juice
  • 1 ounce pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Coarse salt or sugar for rimming
  • Fresh cranberries and pomegranate arils for garnish
  • Rosemary sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your serving glass. Dip the rim into a shallow plate of salt or sugar.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, and simple syrup if using.
  3. Shake well: Close the shaker and shake vigorously until the outside is very cold, about 15 seconds.
  4. Strain: Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the margarita mixture into the glass.
  5. Garnish: Add a few fresh cranberries, pomegranate arils, and a rosemary sprig to the drink.
  6. For a pitcher: Combine all liquid ingredients in a pitcher. Chill for up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, pour over ice and garnish each glass individually.

Notes

  • For a mocktail version, substitute the tequila with 2 ounces of sparkling water or non-alcoholic spirit alternative.
  • Adjust the simple syrup based on the tartness of your juices. Taste before serving.
  • To make simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water and heat until the sugar dissolves. Cool before use.
