Make this creamy and tangy ham salad using leftover ham. It combines savory ham, crunchy celery, and relish in a smooth dressing, making it a quick lunch idea or easy appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked ham, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely minced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the finely chopped ham in a medium bowl.
  2. Add the diced celery, sweet pickle relish, and minced red onion, if you are using it.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Pour the dressing mixture over the ham and vegetable mixture.
  5. Stir all ingredients together until everything is fully combined and coated evenly.
  6. Cover the bowl and chill the ham salad in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.
  7. Serve cold on bread for sandwiches, with crackers, or as a side dish.

Notes

  • This recipe is excellent for using up honey baked ham leftovers.
  • For an old-fashioned flavor, add one finely minced hard-boiled egg.
  • If you prefer a sharper taste, substitute sweet pickle relish with dill pickle relish.
