Make this easy weeknight shrimp dinner featuring a sticky, sweet, and spicy hot honey glaze. This pan-seared shrimp recipe comes together in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry thoroughly with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let it brown.
  4. Add the honey, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir constantly and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 1 minute until the sauce thickens slightly into a glaze. This creates your perfect shrimp glaze.
  5. Stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated into the sauce.
  6. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss gently to coat every piece completely in the hot honey sauce. Cook for 30 seconds more just to reheat the shrimp.
  7. Remove from heat immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten free hot honey shrimp option, confirm your apple cider vinegar does not contain gluten, though it is typically safe.
  • Serve this sticky honey shrimp over white rice or tossed with pasta for a complete meal.
  • If you prefer air fryer hot honey shrimp, cook the seasoned shrimp at 380°F for 6-8 minutes, then toss with the prepared sauce after cooking.
