Make rich, creamy chocolate walnut fudge using sweetened condensed milk. This easy recipe yields a smooth, crunchy treat perfect for homemade candy gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter.
  3. Stir constantly until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not let it boil.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and the chopped nuts.
  5. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan. Spread evenly.
  6. Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 2 hours, or chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour until firm.
  7. Use the parchment overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan. Cut into small squares for serving or packaging.

Notes

  • For a glossy finish, gently melt the butter and chocolate over a double boiler instead of direct heat.
  • If you want a different flavor, substitute the walnuts with salted peanuts for a chocolate peanut butter fudge variation.
  • Wrap individual squares tightly in cellophane or small paper candy cups to create beautiful dessert gift ideas.
