Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix

  2. Spread the entire can of cherry pie filling evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry filling layer. Do not mix.
  4. Pour the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Let the dump cake cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the yellow cake mix with chocolate cake mix for a chocolate cherry dump cake.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a family favorite dessert.
  • This recipe works well for potlucks because it travels easily and serves many people.
